Project site is partially within the 100-yr and 500-yr floodplain, so mitigation was required for all fill within these areas. The existing detention pond that was completed as part of Phase I was not designed to provide mitigation, and was at maximum capacity.
In order to meet mitigation requirements, the team designed a parking lot with elevations lower than the existing natural ground, thus providing all mitigation volume within the proposed pavement. Civil 3D software was used to provide cross-sections of these areas for permitting.
